Integrated Retail was proud to be showcasing FootfallCam as part of NRF APAC 2025, held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, where innovation in retail took center stage. As a solution provider dedicated to modernising the retail experience, we were excited to showcase FootfallCam, a powerful foot traffic analytics solution, to retailers across APAC.
Our booth attracted strong interest from retail and mall operators who were looking for smarter ways to understand store performance. FootfallCam emerged as one of the highlights of our showcase—a proven solution that gives retailers the visibility they need to turn foot traffic into meaningful insights.
What is FootfallCam?
FootfallCam is an advanced people-counting system designed to help retailers track, analyse, and optimise in-store customer traffic. By combining stereoscopic 3D imaging with AI-powered analytics, FootfallCam provides real-time, highly accurate footfall data—allowing retailers to make better operational and marketing decisions.
Using a compact camera with dual lenses, the system captures depth information and accurately identifies individuals entering and exiting the store. This data is then analysed to:
- Distinguish between adults and children
- Filter out inanimate objects and staff
- Detect and exclude U-turns
- Track occupancy and direction of movement
- Provide over 95% accuracy in bidirectional counts
All of this is done with privacy built in. FootfallCam is GDPR-compliant, ensuring that all video data is anonymised at the chip level. No raw images are retained, and only non-identifiable, aggregated data is used for analytics.
Live Demonstration at NRF APAC 2025
At NRF APAC 2025, we mounted a FootfallCam 3D Pro2 unit at our booth to demonstrate its capabilities live. Attendees were able to see real-time in-and-out counts directly on the display, showcasing how the camera seamlessly monitors foot traffic with high accuracy.
Although the limited setup time restricted us to showcasing basic features like occupancy and entry/exit counts, the complete solution includes a broad range of functions such as:
- Dwell time tracking
- Zone-based analytics
- Conversion funnel metrics
- Queue length monitoring
- Staff exclusion
- Return visitor recognition
Retailers who experienced the demo were especially impressed by the simplicity of deployment, the clarity of the analytics dashboard, and the depth of insights that can be unlocked once the system is fully configured.
Feature Highlight: Identify Returning Customers (With Privacy in Mind)
A frequent question from attendees was whether FootfallCam can identify returning customers without compromising data privacy. The answer is yes—thanks t
o WiFi counting.
The system passively detects hashed device MAC addresses from customer mobile phones. While these identifiers are never stored in raw form or linked to personal identities, they allow the system to recognise when a returning device is detected—up to 30 days after the initial visit. This enables retailers to:
- Track customer visit frequency
- Measure loyalty and engagement
- Understand peak return windows
Importantly, FootfallCam uses only anonymised data for aggregate insights, and does not conduct behavioral profiling or identity tracking.
Feature Highlight: Exclude Staff Automatically with BLE tags
Another common concern was ensuring that staff are not included in the footfall count. FootfallCam solves this elegantly using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) fabric tags. Staff members wear a small tag embedded in their clothing—such as a badge or sewn-in patch—which emits a unique BLE signal.
The system recognises these tags in real time and excludes the associated individuals from traffic counts, providing a more accurate picture of customer-only footfall.
Feature Highlight: Exclude Staff Based on Movement Paths
In addition to BLE tag exclusion, FootfallCam also allows staff exclusion based on movement patterns. By analysing historical footfall data, the system can identify common paths taken exclusively by staff, such as frequent trips between stockrooms, employee entrances, or checkout counters.
Once these staff-only routes are mapped out, FootfallCam’s analytics platform can automatically flag and exclude individuals who repeatedly follow these patterns. This approach is especially useful for:
- Stores where BLE tagging isn’t practical
- Complementing BLE-based exclusion for redundancy
- Detecting temporary or untagged staff (e.g. vendors or cleaners)
The result is even greater data accuracy and the ability to segment true customer behaviour from operational traffic.
Why FootfallCam Is Essential for Retail in 2025 and Beyond
In today’s data-driven retail landscape, making decisions based on assumptions is no longer sustainable. FootfallCam empowers retailers to act on facts, not guesswork.
With FootfallCam, you can:
- Understand who your customers are
- Analyse their journey through the store
- Optimise store layout and merchandising
- Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns
- Monitor conversion rates and sales performance
- Align staffing levels with actual footfall trends
By transforming raw traffic data into actionable insights, retailers gain the tools to enhance operations, increase customer engagement, and drive profitability.
What’s Next for FootfallCam and Integrated Retail
Following the strong interest we received at NRF APAC 2025, Integrated Retail is actively working with shopping malls and lifestyle retailers across the Southeast Asia region to deploy FootfallCam. The solution’s ability to deliver clear, real-time visibility into store performance is proving to be a game-changer for brands looking to modernise their retail operations.
